THE RACES
The Valére- The Valére are a race born from Humes. Their ancestors were Humes who became what are now known as the Valére. The Valére are an overall race with three sub-races. All of the Valére are related, in one way or another, most though are simply cousins.
The Volturuus- The Volturuus are a race of people who are not very interactive with the Valére. They resemble the Valére in appearance but lack the ability to shift or manipulate any of their blood given elements. In a way they are the world's recreation of Humes. But that name is long forgotten in Epistia.
THE Valéran SUB-RACES
The Jengu-The Jengu are the first sub-race of the Valére. They are creatures of both water and land and many have long hair. Jengu have the ability to turn into animals of water, though once they pick one it is the only one they choose. They normally wait until about age 8 to choose. Often when the weather begins to get bad, either too wet or too drive, they will band together and use their powers of water manipulation to alter the weather patterns to ones that better suit the town. Jengu also cure diseases and mend broken bones. This is mostly the job of the females though. The men are primarily the Jengu who fight, unless they show stronger aptitutes in other areas of interest. The Jengu are led by both the Pendant and their Willow Elder. The Willow Elder is the oldest and most wise member of their tribe. They also advise the Pendant in times of deep trouble.
The Fae- The next sub-race of the Valére are the Fae. They are petite in size and have almost translucent wings. Their hair is normally of a light gold color, but may vary into darker blondes and light browns, though it is uncommon and many of them are considered weaker. Their eyes are also normally light colored, ranging from green to blue and all shades in between. The Fae have the power to turn into animals of flight. Once they choose, at age 8, they can only turn into that animal. These are very sophisticated and consider themselves to be higher classed in the city, though not in a discriminatory manner. The men and females are treated as complete equals and both will fight and hunt. However, they tend to avoid violence if necessary. The Fae are led by both a Pendant and their Willow Elder. The Willow Elder of the Fae is off to the sidelines and does not do much. They are normally a figurehead with a lot of respect for their previous contributions.
The Dracomancers- The final sub-race of the Valére are the Dracomancers. These are a powerful race. Even the lower ranked harness the power of fire, though those of lower status cannot use it nearly as skillfully as the originals could. All Dracomancers can shift into dragons of various shapes and sizes, though the ability to breathe fire is usually attainable. Dracomancers measure taller than the Faes, though heights vary greatly throughout the species. Nearly all have dark hair and eyes. They all retain an innate ability to detect precious metals and jewels of all kinds. The women are generally stronger and more dominant than men. The Dracomancers are a secretive tribe and are led by their Pendant and Willow Elder. The Willow Elder here is normally their strongest, strictest and wisest, guiding the Pendant in his or her leadership.
THE Voltuuren SUB-RACES
The Redelians- These are what are most commonly known as Humes. The word Hume as long since been forgotten in this land however and the Voltuurus are their own people, with their own culture. They live simply. Their hair and eye colors vary from all natural colors. They have varying skin colors as well ranging from almost black to sheet white. They are very diverse and friendly, though they almost live in awe of the Valére. They are in alliance and trade often.
The Contractors- Contractors are a race that is very small. There are less than a handful of them. Contractors have direct contracts with the Goddess of whom the Valére received their powers. Contractors however share the land with the Voltuurus and never speak of their contracts. Their contracts allow them knowledge of the past, but this is all they receive for now. They are trademarked by a black rose embedded into the back of their neck and violet eyes.
