The waters surged around us, spinning out of control. People were screaming, their shrieks echoing throughout the valley. It was sad of course. But what could I do? I couldn't stop the water. I couldn't stop the turbulence or cause the waves to drop back down. It was nature. Our Goddess had done this for a reason. She was teaching us not to be so conceited. She was telling us not to be so materialistic. It made sense to wipe them out; not that any of them deserved it. It was the cycle. Nothing in our life was logical or even fair. There was no sense of good or bad when nature entered our domain. Perhaps it was we who entered her domain. I never know. I suppose I never will. We are superficial in nature. We enjoy things aesthetically pleasing. We destroy everything we touch.
